Topeka, the company formally known as Google, has finally opened their first ultra-high-speed broadband project in the high end tourist resort town of Wailea, Maui.
Cafe owner, Tiwaka Tiki was overheard on the phone calling his cousin to borrow more chairs for the anticipated crowds.
Other notables were encouraged by this large corporate investment as well.
"We are SO PROUD to be one of the first municipalities to enjoy this fine service and we anticipate much better coffee in our very near future!" bragged the Mayor of Wailea, Mr. Schmidt Eric.
Of course, things on Maui move a little slower than the rest of the world and the new signage denoting Topeka as the company name was said to be still stuck on a tramp steamer out of San Francisco bound for Wailea Harbor. Company officials hope to see it arrive by Christmas.

Ewww, what a shit box.
ReplyDeleteWhy so much hate for Hawaii? We're part of the USA, and life here isn't much different than living in San Francisco. Except, of course, that you can go in the water without a wet suit.
ReplyDeleteJerk.
I live here on Maui, in Kula, although practically spend everyday in Wailea...waiting for that good coffee to arrive from SF.

Google shouldn't allow their name and logo to be displayed in such a poor and bootleg version like that. You would expect a business owner to understand that branding yourself is as important as the brand you sell, its not just a "name". I wouldnt walk into that cafe if you gave away a free cup of Joe...
ReplyDeleteYou all are so bright....happy April 1
ReplyDeleteGuys! have you checked your calendar date this morning/afternoon?
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome I can hardly stand it!
ReplyDeleteYOU GUYS R D... A....
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that all the residents of Wailea are very proud to be represented by this Photo. Property values are plummeting as you read this.
ReplyDeleteSo the April Fools Joke with Topeka has taken us all by surprise, however it did do one thing in my opinion, It has now made MANY americans and many people around the world aware of the presense of a Topeka, Kansas, as I didn't even know a place named Topeka existed. It has sparked an Idea, which I would require to call upon ALL TOPEKANS, as us at Temple of groove would love to configure a Social Network application geared Specifically towards Topekans, We will name this Topekas as a combination of Topeka and Kansas. If we find support this would be in the works. Email us at info@templeofgroove.com or visit us at http://www.templeofgroove.com/ as we have already purchased http://www.topekas.org/

ReplyDeletei dont see how you wait for the "good coffee" to come from SF.
ReplyDelete1) nothing from SF is good
2) the best coffee in the world is kona brand coffee
This is priceless.. I love what people will fall for... even the Arabic on the cafe ;)
ReplyDeleteAs someone that once lived in Kansas, who became smart enough to escape, and now living in Hawaii - It’s even more entertaining. Nice work! :p
